The Chair of Biological Imaging (CBI) at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the Institute of Biological and Medical Imaging (IBMI) at Helmholtz Munich are an integrated, multi-disciplinary research structure and form the cornerstone of a rapidly expanding bioengineering ecosystem in Munich, Germany; including the Research Center TranslaTUM and the Helmholtz Pioneer Campus, which integrate bioengineering with oncology and metabolic disorders, respectively. CBI scientists develop next-generation imaging and sensing methods to measure previously inaccessible properties of living systems, hence, catalyzing breakthroughs in biology, medicine and the environment. Comprising 11 inter-disciplinary laboratories and scientists from more than 25 countries, CBI offers state-of-the-art infrastructure for innovative research and a perfect environment to accelerate your career.

We now seek a highly qualified and motivated MedTech Projekt Manager (f/m/d).

The Mission:

As an entrepreneurial team, we are driving the development of a novel sensing technology that can change the landscape of diagnostics in medicine. Utilizing inventive photonic sensors coupled to advanced machine-learning analytics for big-data processing, the new sensor offers novel disease detection with immense impact for healthcare and strong business potential.

In the past two years we were successful in acquiring more than 2 million Euros through several innovation awards and pre-seed grants, and are currently completing our prototype. We are about to start high-populated international clinical trials and need your help to make it happen.

You will join the start-up team driving the clinical validation of our prototype and help navigate through regulatory aspects like the new Medical Device Regulation (MDR). We are working on applications for our start-up phase.

The successful candidate will get the chance to join our team, preparing the start-up after the successful prototype validation. Associated tasks include:

  • Coordinate MDR activities to enable the validation of our prototype in clinical trials.
  • Compile regulatory requirements (e.g. MDR, standards, etc.) and documentation in a concise and precise manner.
  • Contribute to reimbursement and market-access strategy, market applications and corresponding timelines.
  • Lead our fundraising activities towards start-up phase.

Your profile:

The successful applicant must have the following:

  • University degree (MSc or PhD) in any of physics, engineering, medicine or biology OR in business administration with experience in medical technology.
  • Experience in the regulatory field for medical devices (MDR) OR clinical project management for trials under MDR.
  • Basic knowledge of start-up focused fundraising is a plus.
  • Business creation and Start-up experience in medtech or diagnostics is considered a plus.
  • Motivated Team player who works well as part of an entrepreneurial team.
  • Experience in working in fast-paced environments.
  • Great communication skills.
  • Business fluent command of the English and German language.
