Then the Chair of Biological Imaging (CBI) at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and its integrated Institute of Biological and Medical Imaging (IBMI) at the Helmholtz Zentrum München (HMGU), Germany is the ideal environment for you!  

CBI is the cornerstone of a rapidly expanding bioengineering ecosystem in the Munich science area; including the Research Center TranslaTUM and the Helmholtz Pioneer Campus, which integrate bioengineering with oncology and metabolic disorders, respectively. CBI scientists develop next-generation imaging and sensing methods to measure previously inaccessible properties of living systems, hence, catalyzing breakthroughs in biology, medicine and the environment. Comprising 11 inter-disciplinary laboratories and scientists from more than 25 countries, CBI offers state-of-the-art infrastructure for innovative research and a perfect environment to accelerate your career. Our research aims to shift the paradigm of biological discovery and translation to address major health challenges of our time and develop the medical solutions of tomorrow.

We now seek a highly qualified and motivated IT administrator (f/m/d) to support our state-of-the-art IT infrastructure.

The Mission:

The successful candidate will be pivotal in administrating, maintaining and further developing our institute’s IT infrastructure. In concert with the data centers of the Helmholtz Zentrum München and the Technical University of Munich, you will support our scientists and administrative staff in IT matters with your expert knowledge. Biological and medical imaging highly depends on cutting-edge image reconstruction and AI-driven data analysis, requiring state-of-the-art hardware and software solutions. To this end, you will provide support on hardware and software-related matters and maintain our IT hardware and our institute network. Due to the high amount of sensitive data generated by modern imaging techniques, a particular focus will be on secure and efficient storage and accessibility of imaging data. You will also provide your expertise to support our high-performance computing requirements. Furthermore, you will provide technical support for our web presence.

Qualification:

  • High motivation, leadership and commitment to excellence
  • Excellent bachelor or master degree in Computer Science or a similar field
  • Strong background in IT hardware, software maintenance and network administration
  • Excellent computer literacy in operating systems and user applications (e.g. office applications, VoIP)
  • Experience in administering websites (Typo3, HTML) and social media (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn)
  • Team player skills and enthusiasm to work in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative environment
  • Excellent command of the English and German language

Preferred skills include:

  • Strong expertise in state-of-the-art data storage solutions and high-performance computing
  • Programming and maintenance skills (e.g. Matlab, C/C++, LabVIEW)
  • Experience in image processing and algorithm development

The successful applicant will have a 2-year contract, with the possibility of extension.
