The Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Erfurt intends to appoint to the following professorship for the Winter Term 2024:
W2-Professor of Comparative Literature with tenure track to W3 level (f/m/d)
Area of Responsibility
The applicant will represent comparative literature within a transphilological program of literary studies. Teaching responsibilities for this position are based within literary studies at both B.A. and M.A. levels and within the PhD program “Texts. Signs. Media”.

- excellent achievements in research and teaching in the field of general and comparative literature
- international experience in research or teaching
- a research focus on theories of literature, additional media or cultural studies focuses are desirable as well as a focus on global perspectives of literature
- willingness to participate in interdisciplinary research focuses
- high level of commitment to teaching – also in the English language
- willingness and ability to raise third-party funds and to take over academic administrative and management-level responsibilities
General requirements according to § 84 of the Thuringian Higher Education Act must be met.

Employment is initially for a period of five years as a temporary civil servant. If the evaluation is positive, the candidate will then be appointed to a W3 professorship and thus be employed for life. Further details are regulated by the appointment and career concept of the University of Erfurt.
