The TU Dresden has founded the Center for Interdisciplinary Digital Sciences (CIDS) to holistically and synergistically bring together Dresden's research on digitization for and in all areas of science. As crystallization point for innovation and interdisciplinarity this new center will have numerous bridge functions and interfaces to all areas of the university. On the basis of current trends such as edge and cloud computing, it will provide interdisciplinary digital solutions in close connection with HPC, big data and innovative AI methods. About 600 employees from various departments will work together on scientific issues related to software in the new Lehmann-Center-Office Building (LZB). As a core component of the DRESDEN-concept the CIDS brings together the IT strengths of the university in research, infrastructure, teaching and organization (https://tu-dresden.de/cids).

is offered starting at the earliest possible date initially until October 31, 2026 (time limitation pursuant to TzBfG). Balancing family and career is an important issue. Tasks: You will coordinate the strategic development of the center in close cooperation with the founding director, the CDIO of the TU Dresden and the scientific directors of the departments associated with CIDS. You represent CIDS in internal and external communication, especially at the interface of science, economy and politics. Their tasks also include the promotion of the strategic and scientific development of CIDS, the organization of the recruitment process of talented scientists, the transfer of results and the control of success. In addition, you will coordinate the further development of cooperation with universities, research facilities and institutions in the national and international scientific community as well as the expansion of application-oriented cooperation with industry.

Requirements: For this outstanding position we are looking for a personality with a strong scientific background who fulfills the following requirements:

  • university degree, preferably with a doctorate, preferably in a scientific or engineering field
  • several years of experience in research management, ideally in interdisciplinary contexts
  • distinctive strategic and conceptual skills combined with persuasiveness as well as integration and assertiveness
  • high degree of commitment, flexibility and independent action as well as distinctive organizational skills
  • proven leadership competence with excellent communication skills (communicative, motivating management style), personnel management competence, teamwork and intercultural competence
  • knowledge of administrative, grant, labor and collective bargaining law as well as budget and accounting in the public sector
  • competent handling of modern communication and information technologies
  • excellent knowledge of German and English.
