The DWI – Leibniz-Institute for Interactive Materials is a federal and state funded research institute of the Leibniz Association based on the Melaten Campus of RWTH Aachen University. DWI is looking for a

Project Leader (d/f/m)

at the earliest possible date.

 

Your tasks

  • You conduct structural analysis using TEM, CryoTEM, SEM, CryoSEM, WAXS, SAXS, and XRR techniques as well as in situ analysis to investigate structural and mechanical properties of various soft materials, including macromolecular assemblies in thin films, fibers, solution and bulk.
  • You lead and manage different projects in the field of soft matter characterization.
  • You conduct literature research, develop project concepts, and secure project funding.
  • You ensure project documentation and create final reports.
  • You participate in scientific conferences and present/publish research results.
  • You supervise and mentor PhD and Master students as well as technicians in sample preparation, measurements, and data analysis.
  • You serve as the Radiation Protection Officer.
  • You oversee the operation and maintenance of the laboratory's structural analysis equipment and preparation laboratory.
  • Your profile (Erforderlich)
  • You have a PhD in a relevant field, such as physical chemistry, materials science, biophysics, or biomedical engineering.
  • You have a strong background in structural analysis using electron microscopy and X-ray scattering techniques.
  • You are experienced in managing research projects and supervising graduate students.
  • You have excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present research findings at scientific conferences and to publish papers in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Your ability to deal with radiation safety regulations and guidelines is a plus.

The full-time position is available immediately. The remuneration is based on the TV-L. The position is initially limited to two years, with the option of a permanent employment contract.
