The Center for International Dispute Resolution (CIDR) at Bucerius Law School is looking for a part-time (20 hours/week) RESEARCH ASSISTANT to start as soon as possible on or after 1 December 2025.

Your Duties and Opportunities
The main duties of the research assistant include scientific services (primarily in research and teaching) as well as the organization of the events of the Center. In addition, the research assistant will be the first point of contact for the day-to-day tasks at the CIDR. 

What we offer
The research assistant will be working in a small, dynamic, and motivated team under the supervision of the CIDR’s two directors, Professor Dr. Stefan Kröll and Professor Dr. Karsten Thorn. The position is based in Hamburg. While remote work is possible to some extent, the duties of the research assistant often require on campus presence. A shared office space at the Center will be provided.
The research assistant will be given the opportunity for scientific development, in particular for the preparation of a doctoral thesis. At least one third of the respective working time will be available for this purpose. The compensation is competitive and guided by the collectively agreed remuneration in the public sector (TV-L E 13). 
The position is initially limited to two years, an extension is possible. The fixed term is based on the German Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz).

Your Profile 
Candidates must have graduated from law school with a strong track record – German law graduates must have completed the first state examination with at least the grade “vollbefriedigend.” Very good English and German language skills are required. The candidate must have strong organizational skills. 
Interest in and very good knowledge of the law of international arbitration, private international and commercial law, and in the field of international dispute resolution in general are expected. For the future development and expansion of the Center, a personality that combines creativity with own initiative is advantageous.

The Center for International Dispute Resolution (CIDR) at Bucerius Law School was founded in 2018. It provides an institutional framework and a forum to explore, discuss, and develop issues arising in connection with the resolution of disputes with an international or transnational element. It does so mainly by conducting its own or cooperative research projects and the organization of conferences and events, often enabling an exchange between academia and practice.
