FP7 model consortium agreements, such as the DESCA model agreement (http://www.descafp7.eu/) include mediation and arbitration as dispute resolution options. To fully benefit from the advantages of mediation and arbitration, however, parties need to ensure that research and related commercial agreements are consistent in terms of outlining how disputes are to be resolved.
Against this background the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Arbitration and Mediation Center jointly with KoWi organizes a training seminar called "Mediation and Arbitration in Disputes on R&D and Related Commercial Agreements", which will take place in Brussels, Belgium, on November 22-23, 2012.

It is supported by the Licensing Executives Society International (LESI), the Licensing Executives Society Benelux and DESCA.
The seminar will consist of an intensive two-day training course by expert trainers in the techniques of mediation. It will be based on discussion groups and a simulated mediation and arbitration case study in the intellectual property field. Participants will be expected to actively participate in the hands-on workshop.
This seminar is designed for lawyers, business executives, patent and trademark attorneys, technology transfer professionals and others wishing to familiarize themselves with the mediation and arbitration process and its application in the area of research and development and related commercial transactions.
