Research Scientist
full-time (100 %)
Your tasks:
The duration of the contract is determined by the DFG-funded project "Declarative Performance for Datalog". The project aims at integrating true de-clarative performance in Datalog engines: Without any manual user intervention, a Datalog engine should be able to translate a declarative program into a highly optimized execution plan. To do so, you are supposed to step-wise integrate a set of analytical and empirical optimizations techniques into a state-of-the-art Datalog execution engine and evaluate their effectiveness.
The position is initially limited in time and will end after a period of 3 years. The successful applicant is expected to work on her or his PhD thesis during that time.
Your profile:
Applicants must meet the general requirements according to public services law and the Higher Education Act of Rhineland-Palatinate (§ 57 Hochschulgesetz – Higher Education Act). The ideal candidate has a master’s degree in computer science or a related field. Experience that relates to the topics of the project, such as data manage-ment, is a plus. Candidates are expected to have solid programming skills (preferably in C/C++), be proficient in oral and written English, possess ex-cellent communication skills, and be team- and result-oriented. As the project consists of two re-search scientists, interaction with the other re-searcher will be essential.
What we have to offer:
You will be part of a highly qualified international team and a stimulating work environment. We offer you comprehensive additional services, such as the payment of an annual special payment, partici-pation in the additional pension scheme in the public sector via the VBL, the possibility of purchas-ing a job ticket and extensive personnel develop-ment offers.
The position is paid according to EG 13 TV-L and to be filled as soon as possible. The position is lim-ited in time to three years.
JGU is diverse and welcomes qualified applica-tions from people with varied backgrounds. We attach great importance to the compatibility of family and career. Family-friendly framework con-ditions, such as flexible working hours and hybrid working offer optimal conditions for this.
We aim to increase the number of women in the field of research and teaching and therefore en-courage female researchers to apply.
Candidates with severe disabilities and appropriate qualifications will be given priority.
