Scientific Writer (f/m)
The Chair for Biological Imaging (CBI) of the Technical University Munich (TUM) in Munich, Germany, is a multi-disciplinary academic research structure integrated with the Institute for Biological and Medical Imaging at the Helmholtz Zentrum München. CBI research focuses on innovative optical and optoacoustic methods that enable novel visualization biological tissue in both pre-clinical and clinical settings. The Institute comprises 11 laboratories ranging from engineering to biological and medical research, is home to researchers from more than 25 nationalities and promotes independent career development and diversity. With a broad international presence and many prestigious awards, CBI leads imaging and sensing technologies, advances biomedical discovery and translates novel sensing technologies to clinical applications.
We are now seeking a highly qualified and motivated Scientific Writer (f/m) to support our publication efforts to the scientific community and the public.
The mission:
As the successful candidate, you will lead the development of a novel manuscript writing workflow and will oversee implementation of writing guidelines according to our institute standards. You will compile and revise manuscripts for CBI scientist based on their scientific input and will provide assistance in preparing figures, schematics and working models for the manuscripts in preparation. Furthermore, you will proofread scientific texts, coordinate manuscript submission and follow-up, provide guidance for CBI scientists during manuscript preparation and you will support our grant writing efforts. In addition, you will prepare and distribute brochures, flyers, posters, and lay texts for public dissemination.
Your profile:
A successful applicant stands out by:
- High motivation, scientific curiosity, initiative, and commitment to excellence
- University degree (and preferably PhD) in Electrical engineering, Physics, Optics, Medical Technology, Biomedical computing, or Natural sciences
- Proven outstanding writing skills and strong experience with independent writing of scientific texts
- High organizational and management skills
- Commitment to familiarize with new, interdisciplinary research projects
- Team player skills and enthusiasm to work in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative environment
- Excellent command of the English language
- Solid IT skills (office, image processing, etc.)

The contract will initially be limited to 1 year with the possibility for further extension. Salary is commensuratewith qualification and work experience (TV-L 13).
