Die Konferenz 2014 steht unter dem Leitmotiv "Managing Data Intensive Science - the role of research information systems in realising the Digital Agenda." Keynote wird gehalten von Dr. Carl-Christian Buhr, Member of the Cabinet of Ms Neelie Kroes, Vice‐President for Digital Agenda, European Commission, Digital Agenda.

CRIS steht für "Current Research Information Systems". Auf der alle zwei Jahre abgehaltenen Konferenz treffen sich Forschungsmanager, Informatiker, Bibliothekare, Systemhersteller, sowie Vertreter von Wissenschaftsorganisationen und Verbänden. Vertreten sind u.a. Partner wie ORCID, VIVO, CASRAI, JISC oder COAR (Confederation of Open Acces Repositories).  Konferenzbeiträge beinhalten Neuentwicklungen aus dem Feld Forschungsinformationsmanagement sowie Fallstudien, Ergebnisse aus Standardisierungsprojekten und Workshops. An der CRIS 2012 in Prag nahmen 160 Expertinnen und Experten aus Europa, USA und Kanada teil.
